In two loops of nine holes, our mature parkland course unusually starts and finishes with a par 3. The first is a gentle start but look out for the railway. Indeed, all the early holes require solid tee shots, and generally favour the player who draws the ball, as most of the trouble is found on the right of many fairways. The course features some beautiful landscaped and challenging holes, many with excellent views of the North Downs and the beautiful surrounding Kent countryside.
Our course is beautiful all year round, but some of the autumn colours can be amazing to behold -

Our greens are all constructed to the USGA specification. Our tees have circular distance mark plates set into the ground, and our fairways have green posts denoting 150 yards to centre of green. With a Par and a Standard Scratch of 71 (73 for Ladies), our course is a challenge for golfers of all abilities to enjoy. Practice facilities include a large practice putting green, driving nets and practice ground - all situated close to the clubhouse and first tee.
Bearsted Golf Club dates back to 1895, when it was laid out as 9-hole course on land owned by Sir George Hampson, but became known as Bearsted from 1914. It was originally known as Maidstone Golf Club which played at Bearsted until 1914, when the club split into two.
Bearsted Golf Club was set up and remained on the present site, while Maidstone Golf Club moved to Oakwood Park where they lasted until closure in 1962. It is of interest that in 1891 another Maidstone Golf Club was formed and still exists today. It is located at East Hampton, New York, and was originally named Maidstone after the Kent town. This is now one of the oldest and most exclusive golf clubs in the United States.
The Bearsted golf course has undergone many changes and improvements over the years, notably the move to 18 holes in 1923 (5,137 yds) when the great Harry Vardon (6 times Open Champion) played an exhibition match to open the extended course. Later in 1979, after the acquisition of Seager Farm, it was lengthened still further. Other recent alterations have brought the course up to its present challenging length of 6345 yards, par 71.
